About GOAL360

GOAL360 is a youth football academy for children aged 6 to 15. We believe that football can be a powerful platform for personal development, helping young people build confidence, resilience and positive learning habits that extend beyond the pitch.

Beyond football training, our Academic Coaching & Learning Strategies (ACLS) programme helps students become more effective, confident and independent learners.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and engaging Relief Academic Mentor to support our ACLS programme on selected Saturdays between October 2026 and January 2027.

You will work with a small group of students aged approximately 9-12, facilitating activities and discussions that develop their learning strategies, study habits, self-awareness and personal growth.

This is not a traditional academic tutoring role. Rather than teaching specific school subjects, you will guide students in understanding how they learn, developing effective learning strategies and taking greater ownership of their progress.

You will be supported by our existing academic mentor, with programme guidance and learning materials provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging and interactive academic mentoring sessions.
  • Guide students in developing effective learning strategies, study habits and self-management skills.
  • Encourage reflection, goal-setting and independent learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt activities and discussions to suit students' individual needs.
  • Provide brief feedback on students' participation and progress.
  • Coordinate with our academic mentor to ensure continuity between sessions.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or teenagers in education, mentoring, coaching or youth development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage young learners and facilitate meaningful discussions.
  • Patient, approachable and encouraging, with a genuine interest in youth development.
  • Reliable and able to commit to agreed Saturday sessions.
  • Comfortable working with small groups and providing individualised guidance.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Background in education, psychology, youth work or related fields.
  • Experience teaching study skills, learning strategies or personal development.
  • Current or former educators, undergraduate students and individuals with relevant mentoring experience are welcome to apply.

Why Join GOAL360?

  • Make a meaningful difference in young people's development beyond academic results.
  • Work with a small group of students, allowing for personalised attention and meaningful interaction.
  • Receive programme guidance and support from an experienced academic mentor.
  • Be part of a growing academy with a strong focus on individual development.
  • Potential opportunities for continued involvement beyond the temporary appointment.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV along with a short introduction describing your experience working with young people and why this role interests you.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a brief interview or practical facilitation activity.

Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.5 per week

Benefits:

  • Free parking

Work Location: In person
