Job Responsibilities – Staff Nurse

  • Patient Care
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred nursing care to all residents.
  • Assess and monitor residents’ health conditions and report any changes promptly.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, and personal hygiene.
  • Ensure residents are repositioned according to the centre’s prescribed schedule to prevent pressure injuries.
  • Medication Management
  • Administer medications safely and accurately according to the hospital’s prescription and medication schedule.
  • Check medication orders, dosage, route, and timing before administration.
  • Monitor residents for medication effectiveness and possible adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate medication administration records.
  • Clinical Procedures
  • Perform nursing procedures within the scope of practice, including vital signs monitoring, wound care, inserting Ryle Tube, suctioning, catheter care, tracheostomy care, and other prescribed nursing interventions.
  • Monitor oxygen therapy and other supportive treatments as required.
  • Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control practices during all procedures.
  • Patient Monitoring
  • Monitor and document vital signs, blood glucose levels, fluid intake/output, nutritional status, and other relevant clinical observations.
  • Recognise deterioration or changes in a resident’s condition and escalate promptly to the doctor, family, or emergency services when necessary.
  • Follow up on medical appointments, investigations, treatment plans, and specialist recommendations.
  • Wound & Skin Care
  • Assess wounds and skin condition regularly.
  • Perform wound dressing according to the prescribed treatment plan.
  • Monitor for signs of infection, deterioration, pressure injuries, or other complications and report accordingly.
  • Maintain proper wound documentation and photographic records where required.
  • Feeding & Nutritional Support
  • Assist residents with oral feeding and ensure safe feeding practices.
  • Provide enteral feeding, including NG/RT feeding, where trained and authorised.
  • Monitor tolerance to feeding and report vomiting, aspiration risk, abdominal distension, or other concerns.
  • Documentation & Records
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation, progress notes, care plans, medication records, and incident reports.
  • Ensure all clinical records are complete, factual, confidential, and up to date.
  • Communicate important changes in residents’ conditions during shift handovers.
  • Emergency Management
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Initiate appropriate first aid and emergency procedures within the nurse’s scope of practice.
  • Coordinate with emergency medical services and provide relevant clinical information when required.
  • Communication & Teamwork
  • Communicate professionally with doctors, caregivers, physiotherapists, residents, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide clear and accurate shift handovers.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers and other nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Support and guide caregivers in appropriate patient-care practices.
  • Infection Prevention & Safety
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.
  • Ensure proper hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Ensure clinical equipment, treatment areas, and nursing supplies are maintained safely and appropriately.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe practices promptly.
  • Care Planning & Follow-Up
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and reviewing individualised care plans.
  • Ensure nursing interventions are carried out according to residents’ care needs and medical instructions.
  • Follow up on residents’ progress and communicate concerns to the relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional nursing standards, confidentiality, dignity, and respect for all residents.
  • Comply with the nursing home’s policies, SOPs, and relevant professional requirements.
  • Participate in training, competency assessments, meetings, and continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, accountability, and a willingness to work as part of the care team.

Pay: RM2,300.00 - RM2,700.00 per month
