We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal professional to join our Group Legal team as Senior Manager – Commercial Contracts.
This role will lead the drafting, negotiation, governance, and risk management of complex commercial and project-related contracts across the Cahya Mata Group, ensuring alignment with business objectives, governance standards, and risk frameworks.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Group Legal, you will play a key role in supporting major commercial, construction, and operational activities across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Contract Management
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including:
- EPCC / construction contracts
- Procurement & supply agreements
- Services agreements
- Variation orders, supplemental agreements, and amendments
- Inter-company agreements
- Ensure contracts safeguard the Group’s legal and commercial interests
Project & Operational Support
- Provide legal and contractual advisory throughout the contract lifecycle
- Support project teams on:
- Risk allocation
- Contract execution & variations
- Claims, LAD exposure, EOT matters, and termination rights
- Support dispute avoidance through proactive legal intervention
Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with:
- Group Delegated Authority Levels (DAL)
- Procurement and approval frameworks
- Board and Management governance requirements
- Identify legal and commercial risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies
Stakeholder & Negotiation Management
- Lead negotiations with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and external counterparties
- Manage external legal counsel on high-risk or strategic matters
Standardisation & Capability Building
- Develop and improve Group-wide contract templates, playbooks, and legal frameworks
- Mentor and support Legal Managers and Legal Counsels on commercial contract matters
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
- Called to the Bar / admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor is preferred
- 10–12 years of experience in commercial contracts, construction/projects, or in-house legal roles
- Strong expertise in:
- Commercial & project contracts
- Construction and EPCC agreements
- Governance & approval frameworks
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially pragmatic with strong risk assessment capabilities
- Experience in public-listed companies or group-structured organisations is an advantage
