Job Description

• Project Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate cooling tower installation works under the guidance of the Senior Project Engineer. Supervise subcontractors and liaise with clients, Site Supervisors and internal teams to meet project requirements.
• Site Inspection and Material Verification: Conduct pre-installation and progress inspections to verify site readiness, installation progress and compliance with approved drawings and specifications. Check delivered materials against packing lists and delivery orders, and promptly report shortages, damage or discrepancies.
• Quality Control: Implement approved inspection and test plans, including required hold points. Inspect installation workmanship, record non-conformances and follow through on corrective actions and defect closure.
• Resource Management: Coordinate with subcontractors and Site Supervisors to plan manpower, equipment, tools and materials. Monitor resource availability and productivity to support timely completion.
• Project Documentation: Prepare and maintain site records, progress reports, inspection reports, Field Service Reports, delivery orders and T&C reports. Coordinate the submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals and other documents required for client handover and financial close-out.
• Safety Compliance: Implement site safety requirements and coordinate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), work permits and safe work procedures with relevant personnel. Identify unsafe conditions, take immediate action within assigned authority and escalate unresolved risks.
• Technical Problem Solving: Identify and investigate installation and commissioning issues. Coordinate approved solutions with the Senior Project Engineer, Design, Factory and QAQC teams. Provide accurate information for CSR reports and Change Notes, and obtain approval before implementing technical modifications.
• Budget and Cost Control: Prepare and update the Budget Costing Sheet, monitor expenditure and report potential overruns. Verify subcontractor progress claims and additional-work requests, and obtain the required approvals before committing costs or proceeding with variations.
• Schedule Management and Reporting: Prepare and monitor project schedules, track actual progress against planned milestones and coordinate recovery actions for delays. Submit regular updates covering progress, manpower, costs, outstanding issues and decisions required.
• Testing, Commissioning and Handover: Plan and conduct cooling tower inspections, testing and commissioning in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements. Record results, coordinate rectification, close outstanding punch-list items and obtain the required client acceptance and handover records

Job Requirement

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Preferably 1–3 years of relevant experience in cooling towers, HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, piping installation, or related mechanical works.
• Fresh graduates may be considered for an Assistant Project Engineer position, with appropriate supervision and training.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning requirements.
• Ability to prepare clear and accurate site reports, progress updates, and related project documentation.
• Good coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Practical problem-solving skills, with the initiative to resolve site issues and escalate matters promptly when necessary.
• Ability to manage project schedules, manpower, resources, and costs, and prepare reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good understanding of site safety, quality, and workmanship requirements, with strong attention to detail and accountability for assigned work.
• Familiarity with cooling towers, HVAC systems, pumps, piping systems, mechanical drives, and related mechanical equipment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and project scheduling software is an advantage.
• Familiarity with data centre project documentation, installation, testing, and commissioning requirements is an advantage.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
