About the role:
As a Microbiology Laboratory Intern, you will work closely under the direct supervision of the Microbiologist, supporting day-to-day laboratory operations and key quality assurance routine. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (covering homecare, personal care and food products). You will assist in routine microbial testing, environmental monitoring, water monitoring and the execution of critical validation studies while adhering strictly to GMP and GLP standards.
Exposure throughout the internship program would encompass such as:
- Advanced Microbiological Testing: Assist in testing raw materials, in-process samples and finished products using conventional methods as well as rapid systems (Celsis Advance II Rapid Microbial Detection System).
- Media Preparation & Sterilization: Gain hands-on experience in preparing microbiological media, operating and maintaining autoclaves and ensuring proper sterility assurance for laboratory testing.
- Swab Test & Environmental Monitoring: Assist in conducting environmental monitoring and surface swab testing in production.
- Validation Protocols: Gain direct exposure to drafting and executing validation documentation, including cleaning validation (utilizing swab and rinse sample techniques) and clean hold time studies.
- Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Learn how to handle batch records, deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) investigations and document revisions in compliance with cGMP guidelines.
- Laboratory Audits: Support preparations for internal/external audits (such as customer, ISO, GMP and regulatory body inspections).
- Product Development & Plant Support: Assist the Quality and Product Development teams in executing and monitoring new product trial runs on the production floor.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed at least Diploma in Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field.
- Fundamental understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) concepts.
- A solid understanding of basic microbiological principles, lab techniques and hygiene standards.
- Familiarity with microbial limit testing, environmental monitoring or water testing methodologies is an advantage.
- Able to commit to a full-time internship for a duration of 3 to 4 months (December 2026 – March 2027)
- IT Literacy: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to multitask and collaborate effectively across different teams.
- Personality: Good interpersonal and effective communication skills, responsible, proactive and able to follow instructions well.
- Willing to work in Meru, Klang
