Junior Business Analyst – Capital Markets / Regulatory Change

We are looking for a Junior Business Analyst to support a Project Manager in delivering upcoming Operations, Regulatory and Market Infrastructure initiatives within the financial services sector.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams to gather requirements, assess business impacts, document processes, and support testing and implementation activities.

Key Project Areas

• T+1 Settlement: Support changes related to the transition to T+1 settlement for UK and European equity markets, with potential coverage of other markets.
• US Treasury Repo Clearing: Assist with business and operational impact assessments arising from US Treasury repo clearing regulatory changes.
• SWIFT MX Migration: Support the migration to SWIFT MX messaging formats, including requirements documentation, data mapping, and testing.
• SFTR Reporting: Potentially support the implementation of a Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR) reporting solution for securities lending activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage business users and stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
• Analyse existing business processes and identify gaps, impacts, and areas requiring change.
• Prepare business requirements documents, process flows, functional requirements, and other project documentation.
• Support As-Is and To-Be process mapping and impact assessments.
• Coordinate with business and technology teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Assist in preparing test scenarios, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), tracking defects, and validating outcomes.
• Track project actions, issues, dependencies, and requirements in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Support implementation and post-implementation activities as required.

Requirements

• Experience in a Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role.
• Exposure to banking, investment banking, capital markets, securities operations, or financial services.
• Understanding of business requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, and testing.
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work across business and technology teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard documentation tools.

Good to Have

• Exposure to securities settlement, trade lifecycle, post-trade processing, or middle/back-office operations.
• Knowledge of SWIFT MT/MX messaging or ISO 20022.
• Exposure to US Treasury securities, repo transactions, securities lending, or clearing processes.
• Familiarity with SFTR, regulatory reporting, data mapping, or reconciliation.
• Experience supporting regulatory change or financial market infrastructure projects.
