Senior SLT Test Engineer

The Person

As part of this team, you will have complete ownership of developing System-Level Test (SLT) programs for next-generation microprocessors. You will work on internal SLT platforms and debug test infrastructure issues, including test hardware, test software, diagnostics, and device-specific IP.

You will also leverage SLT data to drive improvements in platform software and upstream ATE test coverage. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage from product definition and silicon bring-up through product qualification and high-volume manufacturing by developing product-specific test hardware, software, and diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive test solution and coverage development and optimization to meet key business milestones, including schedule, test time, yield, cost, and quality.
• Lead NPI activities related to SLT test patterns, calibration test flows, test method development, debug, test, and silicon characterization within a Product Engineering environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define System-Level Test (SLT) coverage, test content, characterization requirements, and root-cause resolution for device failures.
• Engage early in pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, including test flow planning, coverage bring-up, test flow integration, and test hardware checkout.
• Validate new product features, test conditions, test methodologies, and test content.
• Perform silicon characterization across process, voltage, and temperature conditions.
• Conduct engineering evaluations, test program correlation, high-volume production releases, and test engineering enhancement or improvement projects.
• Drive key performance indicators such as test time reduction, yield improvement, quality enhancement, and optimization of overall test strategy.
• Provide test engineering support across product development and manufacturing sites.
• Work closely with regional Product Development and Manufacturing teams during early-stage product bring-up and production ramp.
• Represent the test engineering team in test excursions and issue escalations, driving root-cause analysis, resolution, and containment actions.
• Interface with external manufacturing and test partners for test program implementation and operational issue resolution.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers.
• Support RMA debug activities and failure analysis processes when required.

Preferred Experience

• Strong expertise in System-Level Test (SLT) and/or x86 system architecture.
• 10+ years of SLT or related semiconductor test engineering experience, with a strong track record in test pattern bring-up, low-yield debug, test flow integration, silicon characterization, and NPI Product Engineering.
• Strong experience in platform-level test, validation, and debug.
• Proficiency in Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with IC testing, silicon bring-up, and ASIC support activities.
• Good understanding of OS kernels, device drivers, BIOS, and firmware.
• Strong programming and scripting experience in languages such as C, C++, Java, Ruby, Perl, and Python.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor test programs, test methodologies, and production test processes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional engineering teams.
• Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
