About The Team

The NDRE (Network Development and Reliability Engineering) team is responsible for the network infrastructure of Shopee and Monee. Our mission is to maintain and enhance the stability, availability, and manageability of the network infrastructure. We achieve this by developing software and standard processes to manage and monitor these network systems.

Job Description

• Support the daily operations of our SDN / virtual networking platform, including health checks, alert investigation, and initial troubleshooting. Gradually participate in production on-call duties after onboarding and training.
• Use Ansible and established procedures to deploy new clusters, update configurations, and upgrade components, with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Investigate Linux, networking, and service issues using logs, metrics, packet captures, and diagnostic tools. Collect relevant evidence and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Develop and maintain scripts, Ansible playbooks, and diagnostic tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Help improve monitoring, alerting, operational documentation, and runbooks. Participate in incident reviews, reliability checks, and recovery drills.
• Contribute to AI-assisted operations by organizing operational knowledge, integrating diagnostic tools, and validating AI-generated analysis and automation workflows.
  
  

Requirements

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, including common commands, processes, services, file permissions, and logs.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, routing, and DNS, with the ability to reason through basic connectivity issues.
• Ability to write programs or scripts in at least one language, such as Python, Go, or Shell.
• A structured approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to investigate unfamiliar issues, test assumptions, and learn from results.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to follow operational procedures, document findings, and seek support when needed.
  
  

Good to Have

• Internship, coursework, personal project, or open-source experience related to Linux, networking, backend systems, or infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with Ansible, Git, or CI/CD workflows.
• Exposure to monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, tcpdump, or Wireshark.
• Basic understanding of distributed systems, virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, or SDN. Exposure to eBPF, OVS, P4, or programmable switches is a plus.
• Experience using AI tools for programming, troubleshooting, or knowledge retrieval, with a habit of checking the accuracy of their outputs. Projects involving AI agents, RAG, or tool integration are also welcome.
