Job description:
BUILD MARKETS. SHAPE ECONOMIES. At SGX Group, we create markets. We turn ideas into products and expand access to new opportunities. We are building the future of the exchange in-house: from architecture and platforms to the critical systems that power markets. The biggest decisions are still open to people who join us now.
The opportunity SGX is hiring a Technical Product Owner (TPO) for the Derivatives domain, which covers the derivatives lifecycle at SGX from listing and trading through clearing and settlement.
TPOs connect business problems with technical delivery. Working with the Business Owner, you'll take initiatives from problem definition to production outcome with an evidence-based approach: shaping scope, giving engineering teams and vendors the clarity they need, making trade-offs, and driving decisions rather than escalating them. You won't write production code, but you'll be technical enough to challenge engineering decisions, prototype with AI agents, and earn the trust of an experienced engineering team.
The TPO capability is being built across several SGX domains, and some product and SDLC practices are still maturing. You'll help shape how they evolve as AI changes how products are delivered.
What you will do Product Analysis and Shaping
- Develop a deep understanding of the deriviative products and platforms (e.g., features, user experience, technical architecture, data flows) and contribute to the long-term technology roadmap of the product domain.
- Define, with the Business Owner, the north-star metric and support KPIs that guide product iteration, and partner with engineering and data teams to ensure these metrics are observable.
- Produce the artefacts that engineering or vendors need to act on, whether that's requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria or AI-assisted product specs, by partnering with stakeholders to understand the underlying business opportunities.
Roadmap and Prioritisation
- Co-own the product roadmap with the Business Owner, keeping it aligned with company goals, member needs, regulatory context, and other products within your domain and across domains.
- Prioritise features and enhancements based on evidence of user impact, business value, regulatory requirements and technical feasibility.
- Work with software vendors to shape their roadmaps to support SGX's ambitions.
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate product direction, metrics, and progress to internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including members and regulators.
- Build consensus and manage expectations around priorities, trade-offs, and the inherent uncertainty in product work.
Ways of Working
- Use AI agentically to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and specification (e.g., generate working mockups, draft technical specs, validate assumptions) before engineering invests time.
- Drive continuous discovery through member interviews, prototypes as tests, and usage data analysis.
- Make trade-offs explicit (scope vs. timeline, build vs. buy, quick win vs. durable fix).
- Challenge the status quo and help shape product practice and SDLC improvements.
What we are looking for - Experience. 5+ years in product management, product ownership, business analysis or engineering roles with significant product responsibility, ideally in regulated, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Derivatives domain knowledge. Understanding of exchange-traded and OTC-cleared derivatives and their lifecycle, from contract specification and trading, through post-trade processes such as clearing, margining, and settlement. Capital markets experience, ideally at an exchange, clearing house, or trading platform, is a plus.
- Technical fluency. Able to reason about APIs and data flows, evaluate technical trade-offs, and hold your own in architecture discussions with senior engineers.
- AI-native ways of working. Real, hands-on experience using AI agents to prototype, specify, and validate, not just to summarise documents.
- Product instinct and influence. Sharp at problem framing, ruthless about scope, keen on data-driven decisions, and comfortable driving decisions under ambiguity. Able to influence and collaborate across business and technology, and across levels of seniority.
- Nice to have. CFA or FRM; familiarity with how derivatives are priced (enough to work with the business and quantitative specialists) and with the tokenisation of financial assets.
Why this role matters You will work on products and platforms that sit inside critical market infrastructure, where product decisions have direct consequences for the business, its customers, and the markets it serves. The mandate goes beyond managing a backlog. You will shape how problems are framed, how outcomes are measured, and how business and technology make decisions together. This is a unique role where you can help change how products move from idea to production.
