This role sits within the marine shipping sector and handles a wide range of complex marine cases. You will manage claims from first notification through to settlement, working closely with insureds, brokers, correspondents, surveyors and legal advisers to deliver accurate outcomes, strong customer service and effective cost control.

Responsibilities

• Handle marine liabilities claims including P&I exposures, charterers’ liability, Hull & Machinery, cargo-related liabilities, terminal/operator liabilities and associated recoveries.
• Investigate coverage, policy terms, jurisdiction and applicable law; issue timely reservation of rights and declinature letters where required.
• Appoint and manage external experts (surveyors, average adjusters, counsel) and control spend through appropriate budgeting.
• Assess quantum and liability, negotiate settlements, and recommend reserves in line with authority levels and best practice.
• Manage subrogation and recovery opportunities, including against carriers, terminals, third parties and co-insurers.
• Maintain accurate claim files and produce clear reports, MI and technical notes for internal stakeholders.
• Support audits, regulatory requirements and internal controls, ensuring timely diary management and documentation.

Required Skills

• Proven experience handling marine liabilities claims, ideally within an insurer, P&I environment, TPA or broker claims team.
• Strong knowledge of marine insurance principles, policy wordings and claims processes; familiarity with international trade/shipping documentation.
• Working understanding of legal and regulatory considerations in Singapore and cross-border claims handling.
• Excellent analytical skills, commercial judgement and negotiation capability.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters, prioritise effectively and meet service level expectations.
• Confident stakeholder management with clear written and verbal communication in English.
• High attention to detail, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
