IT Application Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Application Engineer with software and application support experience, preferably within the semiconductor, electronics, or manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting business and manufacturing applications to ensure system reliability, data accuracy, and smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and enhance existing software applications and manufacturing systems.
• Provide application support and troubleshooting for system-related issues reported by users.
• Work with internal departments to understand business requirements and recommend suitable software solutions.
• Participate in application development, system configuration, testing, implementation, and deployment.
• Support integration between manufacturing applications and enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, and other production-related systems.
• Monitor system performance, identify application issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Prepare technical documentation, user guides, system procedures, and application reports.
• Conduct user training and provide technical assistance to internal users.
• Coordinate with software vendors, developers, and external service providers for system enhancements and support.
• Participate in software upgrades, system migration, testing, and continuous improvement projects.
• Ensure application security, data integrity, and compliance with company IT policies.
• Support IT projects to improve manufacturing productivity, operational efficiency, and business processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in software application support, software engineering, or IT application management.
• Experience in software development, application maintenance, system integration, or technical support.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript will be an advantage.
• Familiar with database management, particularly SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Experience with ERP, MES, manufacturing applications, or production systems is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), system testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,800.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
