Deliver both performance testing and functional test automation for large-scale government and enterprise systems, as part of the NCS quality engineering team. The role covers the full cycle of non-functional (performance) testing and the design and upkeep of automated regression test suites, often across several projects at the same time.
Key Responsibilities – Performance Testing
- Analyse non-functional requirements and work with business and technical teams to define performance test scope, workload models and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare performance test plans, scenarios and test data.
- Develop and maintain performance test scripts using LoadRunner (VuGen) and JMeter.
- Execute load, stress, endurance and capacity tests, and monitor application, database and infrastructure metrics during test runs.
- Analyse test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and work with development and infrastructure teams on tuning and re-testing.
- Prepare performance test reports and present findings and recommendations to project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities – Test Automation
- Analyse application features and test cases to identify and prioritise scenarios for automation.
- Design, develop and maintain automated functional and regression test scripts using Selenium.
- Build and extend reusable automation frameworks, page objects, test data and utilities.
- Execute automated regression suites for each release, analyse failures and report defects.
- Work with developers and testers to keep automated suites stable and up to date as the application changes.
- Report automation coverage and results to project stakeholders.
General
- Support multiple projects at the same time and switch between performance testing and test automation work as project needs change.
- Contribute to the team's reusable test assets, standards and practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software testing, with hands-on experience in both performance testing and test automation.
- Hands-on experience with LoadRunner (VuGen, Controller / LoadRunner Enterprise, Analysis) and JMeter.
- Hands-on experience in test automation using Selenium, including scripting in a programming language such as Java.
- Good understanding of web application architecture, HTTP, web services / APIs and databases.
- Experience with application performance monitoring tools, or with running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines, is an advantage.
- Experience in public sector projects is an advantage.
- Good analytical, communication and reporting skills, and able to work independently with project teams and clients.
