Job Purpose

Define and implement roadfreight and multimodal strategy and business initiatives for the region and lead, drive and manage regional business operations to achieve short and long term financial and operational objectives (EBIT, volume growth, cash flow, profitability, productivity and market share) in line with DHL vision and strategy and shareholder interests.

Key Tasks

• Define and implement business initiatives for the product in line with DHL vision and strategy and shareholder interests
• Formulate current and long-range plans, objectives, policies and procedures to translate overall business strategy, shareholder interests and profitability targets into financial and operational reality for the product
• Organize and drive regional business management and operations in line with set plans and objectives for the product
• Drive the regional product P&L (EBIT, volume growth, etc.), cost and revenue management
• Controls consolidated product budget for the region, approve and recommend course corrections for variances to budgets
• Set and monitor achievement of operational and financial objectives for multiple teams of product executives, senior managers, etc.
• Assess and report on company performance and develop strategies for improvement for the product
• Champion exploration and exploitation of growth opportunities
• Ensure effective conflict management, issue resolution and decision making for critical areas such as matters related to product and market strategy, business development, investments, etc.
• Analyze complex multi-dimensional issues extensively and conceptualize new methods, techniques and/or processes across job areas or functions
• Introduce and steer innovation directly influencing the region’s business operations, productivity and people engagement for the product
• Lead effective operational management
• Oversee and take decisions for operation sites, procurement of capacity, technical support (buying, capacity, etc.) and local purchasing in region/country according to global/regional policy (where applicable)
• Monitor and act on preferred trucker usage and related incentive deals in the region
• Steer market profiling and customer/ competitor research and analyze activities to understand and identify market opportunities and challenges
• Devise effective pricing strategies to sustain profitable growth, and guide identification and implementation of new products within region and provide input on solution design and service elements
• Liaise with sales to support interaction with key customers and provide pricing and margin guidance, support on bids, RFQs and customer presentations
• Set and monitor implementation to compliance with standards, procedures and specifications for the region in line with global guidelines (where applicable)
• Benchmark and embed world class infrastructure and practices for the product at the regional level

Experience & Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• At least 10 years with prior experience in senior leadership and management roles
• Sole contributor with functional responsibility and expected to work closely with and provide guidance to teams of executives, directors/senior managers, and managers
• Support countries in appropriate talent selection, organization and leadership for the product organization
• Strong analytical capability and experience using operational and commercial information to drive decisions
