POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior CAD Modeler & Draftsperson is responsible for producing accurate 2D & 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, detailed manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) based on engineering calculations and design intent provided by the Structural Engineering team.

The role acts as the technical lead for the CAD team by coordinating drafting activities, reviewing CAD deliverables, maintaining drafting standards, and mentoring junior CAD personnel. The position ensures engineering information is accurately translated into manufacturing documentation while supporting project delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

The role also ensures proper management and control of CAD models, drawings, and related engineering documents using Autodesk Vault and other relevant software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CAD LEADERSHIP

• Lead day-to-day CAD activities and assign drafting priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to CAD Modelers and Drafters.
• Review CAD deliverables for accuracy before engineering review.
• Ensure compliance with company drafting standards and procedures.

3D MODELING

• Develop detailed 3D models using Autodesk Inventor.
• Create assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, and structural models.
• Model standard and custom products based on engineering requirements.
• Ensure models are manufacturable and production-friendly.
• Manage CAD model revisions and maintain consistency between 3D models and associated drawings.

DRAFTING & DOCUMENTATION

• Produce fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, detail drawings, and installation references where required.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Prepare and modify PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat or other relevant Adobe applications, including inspection plans and related engineering documentation.
• Maintain drawing revisions and document control.
• Ensure Engineering Packages are complete and properly documented.

CAD DATA & DOCUMENT CONTROL

• Use Autodesk Vault to check CAD models and drawings in and out.
• Ensure CAD files are properly checked in, checked out, and updated in accordance with document control procedures.
• Maintain proper file organisation, revision history, and document integrity within Vault.
• Ensure the latest approved models and drawings are available for relevant project stakeholders.
• Coordinate the management of CAD files to minimise duplication, version conflicts, and unauthorised changes.

ENGINEERING COORDINATION

• Coordinate closely with Structural Engineers.
• Support Production with drawing clarification.
• Assist Purchasing with material identification.
• Support Quality investigations involving drawing issues.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure engineering documentation meets project and manufacturing requirements.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

• Improve CAD standards and templates.
• Recommend workflow improvements.
• Maintain CAD libraries.
• Identify opportunities to improve CAD modelling, drafting, and document control processes.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM7,500.00 per month
