Trip Guard is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the electrical installation works for a 275kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation supporting a hyperscale data centre project in Johor Bahru.

You will oversee site execution, coordinate with the main contractor and OEM erection supervisors, and manage subcontractors and site resources to ensure the electrical installation is delivered safely, on programme and in accordance with approved specifications, quality requirements and OEM standards.

This is a site-based project contract role requiring strong HV substation construction experience, hands-on knowledge of GIS and power transformer installation, and the ability to manage complex construction interfaces in a fast-track environment.

• Electrical Installation: Plan, coordinate and manage installation of 275kV GIS, SF₆ busducts, power transformers, 33kV cables, LV and control cabling, electrical panels and earthing systems.
• Programme and Progress: Develop and track installation programmes, manpower histograms and daily and weekly progress. Identify delays, constraints and corrective actions to maintain project milestones.
• Site Coordination: Act as the main site interface with the main contractor, OEM erection supervisors and other trades. Coordinate work fronts, access, sequencing and technical interfaces.
• Subcontractor and Resource Management: Manage subcontractor performance, site manpower, materials, plant, equipment and lifting operations to support efficient construction.
• Health, Safety and Environment: Enforce project HSE requirements, including Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), risk assessments and lifting plans, in coordination with the Site Safety Supervisor (SSS).
• Quality and OEM Compliance: Ensure installation activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, inspection requirements and OEM procedures.
• Commercial and Site Records: Coordinate variations, site instructions, remeasurement records and progress documentation with the commercial team.
• Reporting and Meetings: Chair site coordination meetings, monitor construction progress and communicate project status, risks, issues and milestones to management and the client.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of construction experience, including at least 5 years in HV substations (132kV/275kV) or power plant projects.
• Hands-on experience with GIS and power transformer installation under OEM supervision.
• Strong understanding of HV electrical installation, construction sequencing, site safety and quality requirements.
• Proven capability in construction programme management, manpower planning, subcontractor management and site coordination.
• Experience managing construction interfaces with main contractors, OEM teams and multiple trades.
• Ability to manage site activities in a fast-track project environment and deliver against agreed programme milestones.
• Experience in hyperscale data centres or other mission-critical infrastructure projects will be an advantage.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a critical electrical installation package for a hyperscale data centre, working alongside the main contractor and OEM teams to deliver essential high-voltage power infrastructure.
