What The Role Is
The Solution Engineer will support the design, development, testing, delivery and maintenance of software solutions. The role involves technical implementations, collaborating with tech leads, product owners and other stakeholders to do data-schema engineering, semantic modelling, knowledge-graph construction and automated provisioning. The successful candidate will design robust, interoperable data structures that underpin mission-critical applications, analytics platforms and information-sharing services. This is a hands-on technical role that also requires alignment with broader intel development objectives in anti-scam work.
What You Will Be Working On
- Define semantic data models and ontologies using standards such as RDF, OWL, JSON-LD and ************* to enable consistent data interpretation across agencies.
- Setup and Optimise graph-database schemas (e.g., Neo4j, Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin) for performance and scalability.
- Design and optimise relational and NoSQL data schemas to meet performance, scalability and security requirements, applying appropriate normalisation, denormalisation and indexing strategies.
- Build and use IaC and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to provision data infrastructure and manage version-controlled schema and ontology changes.
- Establish and maintain a metadata catalogue that records schema definitions, lineage, ownership and data-quality rules.
- Enforce data-privacy (PDPA) and security policies, including encryption, role-based access control and audit logging.
- Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, domain experts and developers to translate business requirements into semantic data artefacts within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Validate schemas and data integrity, assess data quality, and coordinate anomaly remediation.
- Maintain data and technical documentation, and mentor junior engineers on semantic modelling, graph databases, schema versioning and best practices
- Evaluate emerging data-modelling standards (e.g., GraphQL schema stitching, OpenAPI-based data contracts) and recommend adoption where beneficial.
- Deliver high-quality solutions that are thoughtfully designed and architected, ensuring modularity and scalability.
- Effective collaboration with Tech Leads, team members, and stakeholders, including master planning.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years focused on data-schema engineering, semantic modelling or knowledge-graph development.
- Proficiency in SQL and a major RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with NoSQL stores (MongoDB, Cosmos DB) and graph databases (Neo4j, Azure Cosmos DB Gremlin, Amazon Neptune).
- Strong knowledge of semantic web technologies (RDF, OWL, JSON-LD, SHACL).
- Hands-on with IaC tools (Terraform, Azure ARM) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with data-catalogue solutions and data-quality frameworks.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including source code management, IaC, test automation, and static/dynamic code analysis workflows.
- Design secure, high-performance schemas and graph models that meet scalability requirements and data protection standards, including encryption, access control and PDPA compliance
- Agile/Scrum development experience; understanding of TDD/BDD practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of explaining complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Senior positions will require experience in leading or mentoring junior personnels.
All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
All shortlisted applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks upon closing of the advertisement.
