Currie & Brown is currently looking for a Resident Electrical Engineer for data center projects in various sites in Johor.

Job Description

• Conduct daily site walks to monitor construction progress, assess the quality of electrical works, identify issues, and provide updates to the project team.
• Review and monitor the agreed Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) developed by the General Contractor (GC).
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with the GC, design consultants, and other project stakeholders as required.
• Inspect trenches, pits, voids, cable trays/raceways, cable jointing works, panels, and cabling installations in accordance with the approved Inspection and Test Plan.
• Verify that electrical equipment installations are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Prepare Installation Inspection Reports (IIR), highlighting any non-conformances and follow up with contractors on corrective actions and closure.
• Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) where works do not comply with contract drawings, approved shop drawings, specifications, or project quality standards.
• Monitor and drive the timely resolution and close-out of NCRs with the contractor.
• Monitor the General Contractor's construction activities and provide weekly reports covering:
• Site observations and discrepancies identified
• Quality-related issues and change orders
• Progress updates and inspection photographs
• General site cleanliness and housekeeping standards
• Assess and verify that equipment and systems are adequately protected during construction in accordance with the approved Equipment Protection Plan.
• Ensure completed installations have been inspected, tested, and signed off before progressing into commissioning activities.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities to verify compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
• Review electrical shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, and technical submissions.
• Attend the General Contractor's safety committee meetings and promote compliance with project health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction, mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data centre projects.
• Experience in data centre projects will be an added advantage.
• Hands-on experience in Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) electrical installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning works is required.
• Strong understanding of construction quality management processes, inspections, and contractor supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet project deadlines.
• Positive attitude, proactive approach, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
