Job Summary
Responsible for leading and executing detailed piping engineering and design activities from FEED handover to Issued for Construction (IFC), ensuring technical accuracy, design quality, constructability, and compliance with applicable international codes, classification society rules, project specifications, and yard standards.
The role oversees 3D model development and reviews, piping layout and routing, isometric and spool drawings, pipe supports, and Material Take-Off (METO) preparation. It ensures consistency between P&IDs, line lists, 3D models, and fabrication drawings, while coordinating closely with Process, Mechanical, Structural, E&I, Production, and Construction teams to resolve design interfaces and minimize fabrication and installation issues.
The position also provides technical assurance, fabrication and site support, QA/QC assistance, and guidance to designers and junior engineers to maintain consistent engineering standards and deliver fabrication-ready, installation-friendly piping designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed Engineering Execution
- Lead and perform detailed piping design activities from FEED handover through IFC issuance.
- Develop and review:
- Piping General Arrangement (GA) drawings
- Isometrics and spool drawings
- Support details
- Ensure design reflects process requirements, piping material specification, and yard standards.
- 3D Model Development & Review
- Oversee and validate 3D model development (E3D / S3D / PDMS / Navisworks).
- Conduct detailed model reviews to ensure:
- Accurate routing and layout
- Proper clearances and accessibility
- Compliance with safety and maintenance requirements

- Spool break logic
- Weld locations and joint numbering
- Field vs shop fabrication split
- Ensure drawings are fully fabrication-ready and installation-friendly.
- P&ID and Line Data Consistency
- Ensure strict alignment between:
- P&IDs
- Line lists
- 3D model and isometrics
- Verify:
- Valve types and orientation
- Tie-in points
- Line routing vs design intent
- METO Preparation & Control
- Lead preparation and checking of Material Take-Off (METO).
- Validate quantities for:
- Bulk materials (pipes, fittings, flanges)
- Valves and specialty items
- Monitor MTO accuracy to support procurement and construction.
- Supports & Constructability
- Ensure proper selection and placement of pipe support in coordination with stress and structural teams.
- Conduct constructability reviews considering:
- Installation sequence
- Lifting and access
- Modularization (if applicable)
- Optimize spool design for yard fabrication and site installation efficiency.
- Multi-Discipline Coordination
- Interface closely with:
- Process (design conditions, P&IDs)
- Mechanical (equipment nozzles)
- Structural (supports and platforms)
- E&I (cable trays, instruments)
- Resolve interfaces and avoid late-stage design conflicts.
- Technical Assurance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with:
