Job Summary

We are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Director to lead strategic account development and new-business acquisition across e-commerce and digital payment verticals. The role will focus on regional growth, senior-level relationship management, go-to-market execution and commercial leadership, with strong expertise in fintech, acquiring and digital payments. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing strategic accounts, acquiring new enterprise clients and driving sustainable revenue growth.

Roles & Responsibilities

• ⁠Own P&L and commercial targets for strategic domestic and regional accounts while building trusted client relationships and delivering long-term customer value.
• Lead new-account acquisition across e-commerce and digital payment verticals, from prospect identification through commercial negotiation and closure.
• Develop and maintain senior-level relationships across prospects and assigned accounts, engaging business leaders, decision-makers and key stakeholders.
• Develop and execute regional go-to-market strategies in collaboration with internal teams.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities across strategic enterprise and multinational accounts.
• Work cross-functionally to support smooth merchant onboarding, enablement and implementation of online payment solutions.
• Develop and deliver business presentations and proposals to senior leaders and C-suite stakeholders, particularly within the airline, travel and retail sectors.
• Act as the key commercial liaison between prospects, clients and internal teams, ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood and effectively delivered.
• Advise clients on payment solutions and how they can address business needs and deliver measurable commercial value.
• Manage sales pipelines, qualify opportunities, monitor key account metrics, forecast performance and driveopportunities through to successful closure.
• Monitor account and commercial performance and identify opportunities for revenue growth, cross-selling and strategic expansion.
• Provide regular monthly and quarterly reporting on progress against targets, pipeline health and revenue performance.
• Lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders across Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Finance to ensure successful solution delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Finance or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in fintech, acquiring, e-commerce or a closely related industry, with strong exposure to digital payments or payment gateways.
• Proven experience in commercial or operational leadership, team management and cross-functional project execution.
• Demonstrated track record of managing strategic accounts, driving new-business acquisition and achieving commercial targets.
• Strong understanding of payment flows, acquiring and issuing systems, and risk and fraud frameworks.
• Good knowledge of key payment industry practices and protocols, including tokenization, 3-D Secure (3DS), settlement and reconciliation.
• Strong experience in enterprise sales, strategic account management and commercial negotiations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong communication, influencing, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to engage and influence senior executives and C-suite stakeholders across multinational organisations.
