About the Opportunity:
Our client is an established Malaysian company providing specialized solutions and services to support a wide range of commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. The company has built a solid track record in the local market and continues to grow its project portfolio and operations.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead the overall operations and project-delivery function, ensuring projects are executed safely, profitably and on schedule while strengthening internal processes, commercial discipline and team capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across multiple concurrent construction and specialist contracting projects from pre-award planning through execution, completion and handover.
- Direct Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors and supporting operational teams to achieve agreed project schedules, quality standards, budgets and contractual requirements.
- Review project planning, manpower deployment, material requirements, equipment utilization and subcontractor resources to ensure effective execution across project sites.
- Participate in tender and pre-contract reviews, providing operational input on project methodology, resource requirements, costing, scheduling and execution risks.
- Maintain strong commercial oversight of project budgets, cost-to-complete, cash flow, claims, variations, margins and overall project profitability.
- Work closely with Contracts, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Finance, Sales and other functions to ensure alignment from tender award through project completion.
- Monitor project progress and operational KPIs, identify potential delays, cost overruns or execution risks and implement timely corrective actions.
- Establish effective project controls, operating procedures, reporting systems and internal processes to improve productivity, accountability and operational visibility.
- Maintain close relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors, M&E contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Lead project coordination and management meetings, ensuring key contractual, technical, commercial and site matters are addressed effectively.
- Drive quality, safety and regulatory compliance across all project sites while ensuring work meets approved specifications, method statements and contractual requirements.
- Support value engineering, alternative construction methods and cost-saving initiatives without compromising project quality or technical requirements.
- Review team performance, establish clear accountabilities and develop the capabilities of project and operations personnel.
- Provide regular operational, financial and project performance updates to senior management and contribute to business planning and operational strategy.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, Quantity Surveying, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant experience in construction, specialist contracting, building services, M&E, interior fit-out or related project-based environments.
- At least 5 years of experience leading multiple projects, project teams or an operations function.
- Strong track record managing projects from tender/pre-contract stage through planning, execution, commercial administration and final handover.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, costing, cash-flow planning, contract administration, claims, variations and margin management.
- Experience managing Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors and other operational resources.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, site coordination, quality management and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Experience within fire protection, passive fire protection, protective coatings, waterproofing or other specialist construction services would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance project delivery, customer expectations, cost control and profitability.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Hands-on and comfortable operating within a growing, entrepreneurial and project-driven business environment.
- Willing and able to travel regularly to project sites as required.
