The Sports Coach is responsible for advancing their students’ physical ability and knowledge of sports. They are responsible for the welfare of their students and for ensuring that students can gain the qualifications they need to advance their education or their desired career paths after school.

1. Core Roles and Responsibilities

• Deliver professional coaching and Physical Education (PE) lessons activities according to ACE EdVenture’s pedagogy, and standards.
• Work with department leaders to update and upgrade PE and sports curricula based on purpose and principles in the ACE Core Value
• Differentiate instruction to meet the varied physical abilities, learning needs, and developmental stages of students.
• Inspire and motivate students to explore a range of sports, physical activities, and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Ensure that all physical activities are conducted safely, minimising risk of injury or illness and promoting responsible participation.
• Communicate information to leaders that could jeopardise a student’s/student safety or wellbeing with the utmost appropriation
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
• Collaborate with other teachers/coaches to address classroom or student-specific issues
• Replace other teacher/coach’s classes when called on.
• Assess and evaluate student performance throughout the academic year using clear criteria and evidence-based practices.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide comprehensive feedback on students’ development and areas for improvement.
• Contact students’ parents regularly to update them on their children’s physical development progress and behavioural aspects whether positive or negative, especially positive. (Minimum 2 students’ parents a week)
• Coach and train school sports teams to participate and excel in interschool, regional, and national competitions.
• Model positive sportsmanship and competitive spirit while upholding the school’s values.
• Encourage and instil self-discipline in students
• Coordinate logistics for competitions and events, including transporting students, equipment, and collaborating teachers/coaches, in accordance with company policies.
• Attend mandatory team meetings such as Termly Tactics to stay updated on the school’s growth and evolution and convey relevant updates to students
• Speak English at all times and ensure students do the same except during non-English language classes

2. Delivering the ACE EdVenture pedagogy and experience

• Be punctual always
• Follow the subject curriculum, deliver with energy, and see it through with every student
• Keep up a fun and positive environment for both students and colleagues
• Stay up-to-date on the real-world to provide students with perspective and keeping their education relevant
• Build relationships with every student; support students and their wellbeing
• Adhere to the ACE DNA

3. Leadership

• Champion, defend and build upon ACE EdVenture’s vision and philosophy
• Develop influence to steer students in the same direction in accordance with the ACE DNA
• Practice omnidirectional communication between all relevant departments, peers, and levels within ACE i.e. updates from the management, updating peers at the quarterly Heads and Managers’ meeting
• Uphold the ACE DNA and lead by example
• Ensure consistency in teaching methodology throughout all classes taught
• Be accountable to the responsibilities of the role and hold the students accountable for theirs
• Ensure clear and in depth understanding with regards to the reasons and rationale behind the rules, events, culture, and practices of the organisation. These must be communicated on all levels

4. Seek growth and improvement

• Attend ACE’s in-house training
• Attend external trainings to develop breadth and depth in skillsets on top of teaching
• Get regular feedback from respective Head(s), mentoring coach/teacher(s), and seniors to keep delivering excellence
• Take active steps to model the behaviours and improvements that the leaders above are doing in order to stay up to date and grow with the role

5. Being a team player

• Lead and/or assist with school events such as Open Days, school fairs, school events, etc.
• Anticipate extending support to international students, boarding or non-boarding, if requested
• Interacting with our students as a tribe; all students are our students, regardless if you teach them regularly or not
• Anticipate mentoring your junior teacher/coach as you gain teaching experience

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelors or equivalent education qualification.
• Being able to coach other sports such as badminton or table tennis will be prioritized
• Certification in coaching from a recognized sports organization.
• Proven experience coaching at the school or youth level, preferably in an international setting.
• Strong knowledge of coaching principles, techniques, and strategies in multiple sports.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
