The School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events is seeking outstanding scholars for the positions of Professor and Associate Professor in Tourism & Marketing. We welcome candidates whose research aligns with or complements our strategic research priorities:

Position ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
The successful candidate will:
- Provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, including curriculum innovation, programme development, and enhancement of pedagogical practices.
- Design, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching materials, lectures, tutorials, and assessments that support student learning outcomes.
- Mentor and support academic colleagues and postgraduate students in developing effective teaching strategies.
- Supervise postgraduate research students and promote a culture of scholarly teaching and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and advance high standards of teaching excellence in alignment with university expectations for academic quality and student success.
Research and Scholarly Activities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide academic leadership in research activities, including leading research projects, publishing in high-impact journals, presenting at international conferences, and engaging in industry and community collaborations.
- Initiate and secure external research funding and support colleagues in developing research capacity.
- Develop and maintain a strong research profile consistent with the expectations of the appointed academic level.
- Contribute to enhancing the School’s research reputation and international visibility.
Academic Leadership, Administration and Engagement
The successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership and strategic contributions to departmental, school, and faculty activities through participation in committees, working groups, and governance processes.
- Lead or contribute to initiatives that enhance academic quality, operational effectiveness, and institutional reputation.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to academic and institutional advancement.
- Establish and strengthen partnerships with external organisations, industry stakeholders, and professional bodies.
Minimum RequirementsProfessor
Applicants for the Professor position should possess:
- A PhD in Hospitality, Tourism, Marketing, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
- At least eight (8) years of academic and/or industry experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academia or professional practice.
- Expertise in innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enhanced learning.
Research Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A minimum Scopus h-index of 10.
- Experience as the main supervisor for at least three (3) PhD graduates.
- More than ten (10) publications in Q1 and Q2 journals indexed by ISI, Scopus, or Clarivate within the last five years.
- Successful acquisition of RM150,000–RM200,000 in research grants as Principal Investigator.
Associate Professor
Applicants for the Associate Professor position should possess:
- A PhD in Hospitality, Tourism, Marketing, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
- At least five (5) years of academic and/or industry experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academia or professional practice.
- Expertise in innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enhanced learning.
Research Requirements
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A minimum Scopus h-index of 5.
- Experience as the main supervisor for at least two (2) PhD graduates.
- More than three (3) publications in Q1 and Q2 journals indexed by ISI, Scopus, or Clarivate within the last five years.
- Successful acquisition of RM75,000–RM100,000 in research grants as Principal Investigator.
