About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead finance operations for Quaker Houghton’s legal entities in Malaysia and Singapore. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager and based in our Selangor office, you will take end-to-end ownership of the monthly close, tax compliance, external audit and internal controls for the region - working closely with our Asia and global finance teams. This is an individual-contributor role with regional scope, ideal for a self-driven, hands-on finance professional ready to make an impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Own the monthly US GAAP financial close for multiple legal entities in Malaysia & Singapore, including month-end accounting, flux analysis and account reconciliations.
Oversee tax compliance and reporting for both local (Malaysia) and US-related requirements, and manage relationships with tax authorities as required.
Drive continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes to achieve best practice and optimal output.
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that support both current and future business models.
Manage external audits end-to-end: review and analyze results, and support the recommendation of audited financial statements for approval.
Strengthen the internal review function to ensure finance and operations controls and policies are complied with, with effective follow-up processes in place.
Ensure financial management reporting tools and processes are in place to support the ongoing and future needs of the business.
Provide and interpret financial information and support the annual budgeting process.
Ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals, and perform other related duties as required.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance (10+ years preferred).
Hands-on experience across the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR and general ledger / controllership responsibilities.
Solid knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles and reporting standards, including local tax regulations.
Experience coordinating with internal and external auditors and with tax authorities.
Good written and verbal English; able to communicate effectively with regional and global teams.
ERP proficiency (JD Edwards preferred) and strong MS Office skills.
Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
