Job Title: General Manager - Plastic Packaging Manufacturing

Location: Malaysia (On-site)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Salary: USD 7,000 - 10,000 per month + performance-linked bonus

About the Role

A leading plastic and packaging manufacturer in Malaysia is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the business end to end. Reporting directly to the shareholder, you will own sales, operations, financial performance and strategic growth across local and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Business Planning

- Develop and execute long-term business plans and annual budgets in line with the shareholder vision

- Drive strategic initiatives across sales, production and operations

- Identify growth opportunities in new and existing markets, including product diversification

- Review business performance regularly and take corrective action where needed

Sales and Commercial Management

- Oversee sales strategies for key products such as T-shirt bags, garbage bags and reusable plastic packaging

- Build and maintain relationships with major retailers, distributors and strategic partners

- Lead major customer negotiations, tenders and contracts

- Ensure pricing, promotions and forecasts align with business goals

Operational Oversight

- Coordinate production, logistics and procurement for operational efficiency

- Ensure quality standards and timely delivery

- Work with Production and Quality teams to align output with customer and market needs

Financial and P&L Accountability

- Own the P&L, control costs and improve margins

- Work with Finance on forecasting, budgeting and cash flow

- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Compliance and Risk Management

- Ensure operations meet local regulations, industry standards and company policies

- Identify and reduce risks, including supply chain disruption and market volatility

Qualifications

- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience across multiple functions

- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role in manufacturing or packaging (plastic industry background preferred)

- Strong P&L and financial management experience

- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and closing large deals

- Excellent leadership, negotiation and communication skills

- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and decision-making ability

- MBA or Master's degree in Business, Operations or a related field (preferred)

- Exposure to international business, export markets and sustainable packaging solutions (advantage)
