MODERN TRADE MANAGER – JOB SCOPE
1. Modern Trade Sales Management
- Develop and execute sales strategies for Modern Trade channels to achieve company sales targets.
- Manage sales performance across supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, and other Modern Trade accounts.
- Set monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets for Modern Trade accounts.
- Monitor sales performance and take corrective action when targets are not achieved.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, distribution, and product visibility.
2. Key Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, purchasing managers, and key decision-makers.
- Negotiate product listings, pricing, promotions, displays, trading terms, and other commercial arrangements.
- Manage key accounts and ensure all agreed commercial activities are properly implemented.
- Follow up on purchase orders, deliveries, stock availability, and account-related issues.
- Resolve customer issues and complaints professionally and promptly.
3. Sales & Business Development
- Identify new Modern Trade opportunities and secure new account listings.
- Develop strategies to expand product distribution across existing and new outlets.
- Introduce new products and negotiate product listings with key accounts.
- Monitor market trends, customer demand, and competitor activities.
- Develop business plans to increase revenue and market share.
4. Promotion & Trade Marketing
- Plan and negotiate promotional activities with Modern Trade customers.
- Coordinate promotions, discounts, price-offs, displays, roadshows, and in-store campaigns.
- Monitor promotional performance and ensure promotions are implemented according to agreed terms.
- Evaluate promotion results and recommend improvements for future campaigns.
- Ensure company products receive suitable shelf space and visibility.
5. Merchandising & Outlet Execution
- Monitor product availability, shelf positioning, pricing, promotional displays, and planogram compliance.
- Work closely with merchandisers and sales representatives to ensure proper execution at outlet level.
- Conduct regular outlet visits to identify stock, display, pricing, and merchandising issues.
- Ensure products are properly arranged and follow FIFO/FEFO requirements where applicable.
- Monitor out-of-stock situations and take immediate action to minimize lost sales.
6. Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the Modern Trade sales and merchandising team.
- Set individual targets and KPIs for team members.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and sales performance.
- Provide coaching, training, and guidance to improve team performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and report staff performance to Management.
7. Sales Forecasting & Stock Planning
- Prepare sales forecasts based on historical sales, promotions, market trends, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse, Planning, Purchasing, and Operations teams to ensure sufficient stock availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and reduce the risk of overstocking, stock shortages, and expired products.
- Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and within the required timeline.
8. Pricing & Profitability
- Monitor selling prices, promotional prices, margins, rebates, and trading terms.
- Ensure Modern Trade activities remain within approved company budgets and commercial guidelines.
- Monitor account profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins.
- Review customer agreements and ensure agreed terms are properly followed.
9. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly Modern Trade sales reports.
- Analyse sales by account, outlet, product, region, and promotion.
- Monitor KPIs including sales value, sales volume, distribution, product listing, and promotional performance.
- Present sales performance and business updates to Management.
- Provide recommendations based on sales and market analysis.
10. Compliance & Other Responsibilities
- Ensure all Modern Trade activities comply with company policies, procedures, and approved commercial terms.
- Maintain proper documentation for customer agreements, promotions, purchase orders, claims, and related matters.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Warehouse, Planning, and Operations departments.
- Ensure all customer commitments are properly followed up and completed.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management from time to time.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
