Smartlink Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian contract manufacturing and engineering solutions provider serving the semiconductor, electronics and high-technology industries. Our capabilities include cable and wire harness assemblies, control panels, electrical and mechanical assemblies, box-build assemblies, precision manufacturing and system integration.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Costing & Commercial with a strong background in manufacturing costing, customer RFQ evaluation and quotation preparation.

The successful candidate must have practical experience in developing accurate manufacturing cost estimates, preparing competitive customer quotations and evaluating project profitability within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manufacturing Costing & Quotation

• Manage end-to-end costing and quotation preparation for customer RFQs, new projects and existing products.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing cost estimates covering BOM, raw materials, labour, machine hours, production processes, overheads and profit margins.
• Review technical drawings, customer specifications and BOMs to determine manufacturing requirements and costing implications.
• Develop competitive and commercially viable quotations based on accurate manufacturing cost calculations.
• Evaluate production feasibility, manufacturing processes and cost assumptions to ensure quotation accuracy.

2. Commercial & Cost Analysis

• Analyse product costs, selling prices, profit margins and project profitability.
• Review material price fluctuations, manufacturing costs and process changes to recommend pricing adjustments.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and support continuous improvement in costing accuracy.
• Prepare costing breakdowns, pricing proposals and commercial analyses for Management review.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination & Costing Management

• Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and Production to obtain accurate costing inputs and validate quotations.
• Coordinate customer RFQ requirements and ensure timely submission of quotations.
• Maintain costing databases, quotation records and standard costing procedures.
• Lead and guide the costing team to ensure accuracy, efficiency and timely completion of costing activities.
• Support improvements to costing systems, processes and quotation practices.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing costing, product costing and customer quotation preparation.
• Must have direct experience in preparing customer RFQ quotations within a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of BOM costing, material costs, labour rates, machine utilisation, manufacturing processes, overhead allocation and profit margin calculations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing requirements for costing purposes.
• Candidates with experience in cable and wire harness assemblies, electrical and mechanical assemblies, box-build manufacturing, electronics, precision engineering or system integration will be strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, numerical and commercial evaluation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including costing calculations and pricing analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems or manufacturing costing software will be an added advantage.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in supervising or leading a costing team will be an advantage.
• Willing to relocate to Sijangkang, Selangor, upon commencement of operations at the new facility in Q*************.

Important:

This position requires practical manufacturing costing and quotation experience. Candidates with only general accounting, finance or budgeting experience without direct manufacturing RFQ and quotation exposure may not be suitable for this role.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
