Tower Research Capital seeks a Telco Engineer to support and maintain global Point-to-Point Microwave and High-Frequency (HF) communication networks. The primary focus of the role is ensuring the ongoing stability, availability, and operational support of mission-critical wireless infrastructure. The role will also be responsible for developing and enhancing network monitoring and management systems, defining operational support requirements, managing SLAs and support contracts, and implementing effective root cause analysis and preventative processes to improve long-term network reliability.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal networking and operations teams, infrastructure providers, vendors, and field service partners to maintain high network availability and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of Point-to-Point Microwave and HF communication networks.

  • Monitor network health, availability, utilization, and RF performance across global infrastructure.

  • Diagnose and resolve network outages, performance degradation, and RF-related issues.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions to reduce recurring incidents.

  • Support maintenance activities including firmware upgrades, hardware replacement, and planned network changes.

  • Coordinate escalations with vendors, carriers, infrastructure providers, and field service teams as required.

  • Develop and maintain network monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems for wireless infrastructure.

  • Continually improve NMS platforms, operational tooling, and network visibility capabilities.

  • Implement dashboards and automated monitoring for link status, latency, signal quality, availability, and capacity.

  • Develop scripts and automation to improve fault detection, diagnostics, reporting, and operational efficiency.

  • Evaluate emerging monitoring and operational technologies, including AI-assisted monitoring and analysis capabilities.

  • Integrate wireless infrastructure monitoring into centralized operational platforms and workflows.

  • Define and manage SLAs, operational support requirements, and service performance metrics.

  • Manage vendor support agreements, warranty coverage, and support contract renewals.

  • Coordinate support activities with equipment vendors and third-party service providers.

  • Maintain operational procedures, escalation processes, support documentation, and recovery playbooks.

  • Support incident, problem, change, and asset management processes.

  • Manage lifecycle tracking for microwave, HF, and supporting network equipment.

  • Maintain and optimize spare equipment holdings to support operational continuity.

  • Coordinate RMA, repair, and replacement activities with vendors and suppliers.

  • Assist with hardware refresh planning, support renewals, and operational forecasting.

  • Support the design and optimization of microwave and HF communication links.

  • Perform path analysis, link budgeting, and RF troubleshooting activities.

  • Utilize RF planning and propagation tools for coverage analysis and interference assessment.

  • Support resilience planning including redundancy, frequency selection, and multipath mitigation.

  • Assist with telecommunications site power and backup system planning, including battery and remote-site power solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, RF Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting wireless communication networks, microwave systems, or HF networks.

  • Experience in network operations, infrastructure support, or service management environments preferred.

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP or RF-related certifications are advantageous.

  • Knowledge of Point-to-Point Microwave and/or HF communication systems.

  • Experience with network monitoring systems, alerting platforms, and operational dashboards.

  • Familiarity with RF planning, spectrum analysis, and wireless troubleshooting methodologies.

  • Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.

  • Familiarity with vendor support processes, hardware lifecycle management, and spare inventory management.

  • Basic understanding of telecom power systems and remote-site infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with IP networking, routing, and switching concepts.

  • Experience with scripting or automation tools is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to manage operational priorities in high-availability environments.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
