Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or equivalent preferred).
Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin is a strong advantage, as the role requires frequent communication with our Mandarin-speaking partners. Candidates with proficiency in Mandarin will be given priority for interview scheduling.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in reading technical drawings and understanding manufacturing processes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written English/Bahasa Malaysia.
Excellent in Microsoft Excel with data analytical skills / dashboarding is a plus. Ideally experienced in the use of spreadsheets, estimating pricing models, and cost management tools.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven with a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively.
At least 3 years of working experience in a similar role is preferred.
Responsibilities
As a Business Development Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of driving business growth by assisting the Business Development Manager to create compelling quotations, support accurate technical estimations, and strengthen customer relationships. You’ll collaborate across teams—including engineering, production, purchasing, and sales—to develop and deliver innovative, value-added solutions that meet client needs and fuel company success.
Key Responsibilities
RFQ Management & Cost Estimation:
Prepare and manage Request for Quotation (RFQ) documentation.
Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., tool room) and external suppliers/subcontractors to obtain quotations for external processes.
Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications to develop accurate cost estimates and feasibility reports.
Customer & Sales Support:
Maintain and build strong, long-term relationships with existing clients.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in targeted industries or markets.
Assist in preparing and updating master pricing lists for active customers.
Provide pre-sales and post-sales support, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Internal Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Liaise with the engineering and production teams to evaluate the manufacturability of new parts.
Participate in technical discussions and support the decision-making process related to tooling, design, and production planning.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in quoting processes and internal workflows.
